HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • Biomarker Production: Injured kidney cells spread the alarm to nearby cells via TIMP-2 and IGFBP-7.1,2
  • High Specificity: TIMP-2 and IGFBP-7 are specific to stage 2 and stage 3 AKI and are not affected by common acute conditions or chronic comorbidities. See chart below for more detail.
  • Easy-to-read Score: The test result (also known as the AKIRISK™ Score) ranges from 0.04 to 10, and is calculated by dividing (ng/ml)2 by 1000.
  • High Accuracy: VIDAS NEPHROCHECK identifies the majority of AKI positive cases up to 89.9%.3

WHY TIMP-2 and IGFBP-7?

TIMP-2 and IGFBP-7 are used to detect early signs of acute kidney injury because they are biomarkers that indicate cellular stress in kidney cells, allowing for prompt detection and intervention.
